Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh convened a high-level meeting on Thursday, 19 February 2026, to review progress on the Kpetema–Mattru Jong Road project, following a directive from President Julius Maada Bio to complete the road before the rainy season.

The road, a strategic project under the government’s Big Five Game Changers agenda, Pillar Four on Technology and Infrastructure, is expected to improve connectivity, facilitate trade and agriculture, and boost national development.
In his remarks, Dr. Sengeh stressed the need to assess the current status, identify bottlenecks, and agree on measures to accelerate completion.
Hon. Dr. Denis Sandy, Minister of Works and Public Assets, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, Ministry of Finance, and contractors to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
According to Ing. Jalil Momodu, DG of SLRA, the project is currently 65% complete, with an additional 13 km expected to be finished by June 2026. Contractors have committed to completing the project by December 2026.

The contractor, Mr. Alpha Mohamed Lavalie of Maripoma EnT. Ltd., assured the government of his company’s dedication to meeting deadlines and resolving outstanding challenges.
Dr. Sengeh concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that transforms communities and drives inclusive growth.
