The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources recorded a revenue increase in 2025, generating NLe163 million, up from NLe150 million in 2024, Minister Princess Dugba announced.

She reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to further boosting revenue in 2026.
Minister Dugba also declared a fishing closed season for the artisanal fisheries subsector, running from 1 to 28 February, aimed at preserving fish stocks and enhancing fish production.
Meanwhile, Mariama Jalloh, National Director of the Young Women in Governance Network, urged the Constitutional Review Process to include clearly defined women’s rights.
Her advocacy covers pay equity, a 30% quota for women regardless of the electoral system, access to social services such as education and healthcare, and increased youth participation in national development.
She commended progress made so far and called for a transparent review process.
