Fatima Bio Joins Global Summit

Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, will be a featured speaker at the African Economic Global Convergence (AEGC) 2025 Summit, set to take place on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) from September 21–22, 2025, in New York City.

The summit brings together global leaders, policymakers, investors, and development experts to discuss Africa’s role in shaping the global economic agenda. Key issues at this year’s event include trade, innovation, sustainable financing, and inclusive growth.

The First Lady is expected to speak on human capital development, women’s empowerment, and the importance of inclusive policies in driving Africa’s economic progress. She is internationally recognized for her “Hands Off Our Girls” campaign and her work with the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

Her participation underscores Sierra Leone’s growing presence in global development discussions and highlights the government’s commitment to inclusive growth under the leadership of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.

The AEGC 2025 Summit aims to strengthen partnerships between Africa and the global community, with a focus on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), green energy, and digital transformation.

Dr. Fatima Bio’s presence is expected to reinforce her role as a leading voice for change and development, both in Sierra Leone and across the continent.
