High Court Judge, Honourable Justice Isata Susan Sellu-Tucker, has sentenced two individuals for illegal possession of prohibited drugs under the National Drugs Control Act, 2008.
The defendants, Sheka Kamara, 25, of Leah Street, Kissy Road, and Abu Bakarr Sesay, 55, of Kosso Town, Freetown, had pleaded guilty to possessing Kush without lawful authority.
Sheka was found with 25 grams on 28 March 2024, while Bakarr had 60.5 grams on 27 October 2024.
In delivering the sentence, Justice Sellu-Tucker acknowledged the defendants’ early guilty pleas and remorse but emphasized the seriousness of drug offences and their negative impact on society.
Sheka Kamara was sentenced to 12 years, and Abu Bakarr Sesay to 10 years, both to serve their terms at Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre.
