The Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, tabled its latest committee reports, highlighting significant financial recoveries and accountability measures from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for the 2023 financial year.

Speaking immediately after the tabling of the reports, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, who also serves as PAC Chair, commended the committee for its robust oversight and highlighted the tangible recoveries achieved through the parliamentary process.
He noted that the work of the Public Accounts Committee is a demonstration of the hard-won attitudes of these pilots. “The numbers speak for themselves,” Hon. Conteh said.
During the consideration of the 2023 Auditor-General’s Report, the PAC recovered a total of NLe 24,025,499.86 from MDAs. Additionally, the committee successfully secured USD 760,000 in outstanding royalties owed to the Government by Zoodlabs.
Hon. Conteh added that the committee resolved over 60% of audit issues raised in the Auditor-General’s report, while Local Councils achieved 42% resolution on 34 identified audit issues through corrective measures, compliance, and documentary submissions.
He praised the collaborative efforts of the PAC, highlighting close engagement with the Finance Committee and the Transparency and Accountability Committee to ensure unresolved matters are followed up and settled.
“The ethos of this Parliament must continue to echo in every corner of the country,” Hon. Conteh said, urging continued diligence in oversight work. “I want to thank the Rt. Hon. Speaker Segepoh Solomon Thomas, the Leadership of Parliament, Honourable Members of Parliament, and particularly Members of the Public Accounts Committee for their unwavering support throughout this process.”
The Deputy Speaker underscored that these achievements reflect the Sixth Parliament’s firm commitment to accountability, transparency, and sound public financial management, and reaffirmed the critical role of parliamentary oversight in promoting good governance and safeguarding public resources.
The PAC’s reports are expected to serve as comprehensive assessments of the financial performance of MDAs and Local Councils, highlighting systemic weaknesses and areas requiring corrective action. The overarching goal, Hon. Conteh emphasized, is to strengthen fiscal discipline and improve public fund management for national development.
The reports were officially presented in the well of Parliament by the Deputy Chairman of the PAC, Hon. P.C. Desmond Maheyei Kargbobai, who, while tabling the documents, cited the committee’s mandate under the February 1981, Act No. 6 of 1991, and Parliament Standing Orders 17 and 18.
Hon. Kargbobai laid before the House two reports arising from the PAC’s consideration of the Auditor-General’s report for the national year 2023:
The PAC Report on the Consideration of the Procurator General’s Account of CRLM for 2020
The PAC Report on the Quantum of the General or Local Council for the Financial Year
“This is the first chapter of our findings, observations, and recommendations arising from our work,” Hon. Kargbobai said.
He noted that the public extreme jobs are continuing to oppose common jurisdiction.
