In a bid to increase participation, Cricket Sierra Leone (CSL) has successfully ended a one-day refresher training prpgramme for 40 Development Officers.

The exercise is part of preparations for the continuation of its nationwide Cricket for Schools Programme scheduled for next week.
It is aimed at strengthening the capacity of Development Officers who are at the forefront of implementing grassroots cricket initiatives across the country.
The session focused on coaching techniques, programme coordination, safeguarding, and effective engagement with schools and communities.
The Cricket for Schools Programme, launched in 2025 by CSL, is an ambitious nationwide initiative designed to expand access to cricket in educational institutions.
It seeks to train 1,000 Physical and Health Education teachers drawn from 500 schools across the six geopolitical regions of Sierra Leone.

Through this initiative, trained teachers will conduct structured cricket coaching clinics for pupils within their respective schools, helping to nurture young talent and promote physical fitness, and discipline among school-going children.
In addition to coaching clinics, the programme will facilitate the organization of inter-school cricket competitions within districts, as well as inter-regional school tournaments across all six geopolitical regions.
These competitions are expected to provide a platform for talent identification.
