ACC Takes Over NRA Revenue Diversion Probe

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has officially taken over the investigation into alleged revenue diversion at the National Revenue Authority (NRA), previously handled by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP).

The ACC’s move follows a press release from the NRA on June 20, 2025, in which the Commissioner General revealed that certain staff members were allegedly colluding with external parties including commercial bank tellers and other individuals in a deliberate attempt to divert government revenue.

In a public statement, the ACC urged all persons of interest involved in the case, including those currently outside Sierra Leone, to report immediately to the Commission’s Integrity House at Tower Hill, Freetown.

The Commission also called on key stakeholders including the NRA, commercial banks, taxpayers, and clearing and forwarding agencies to cooperate fully and promptly with the investigation. The ACC warned that any delays could result in immediate arrests and detention without further notice.

Furthermore, the ACC issued a stern warning against any interference with the ongoing probe. Such actions would constitute obstruction of justice under the Anti-Corruption Act of 2008 (amended 2019), carrying severe penalties.

The ACC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public funds and ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of national revenue.
