On Saturday, 10 October 2026, a high-level delegation of government officials and district stakeholders inspected selected sites in Magburaka to assess venues and logistical arrangements ahead of the two events.

The delegation was led by the Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs, Ambassador Tamba Lamina, and championed by the Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Ahmed Saybom Kanu, who also serves as Tonkolili District SLPP Chairman.

Other members included Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Ing. Bryan Smart K. Kanu and Tonkolili District Council Chairperson Madam Yabom.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Musa Kpaka, has also been supportive of the preparations.

The World Food Day celebration is expected to showcase the district’s agricultural potential and promote the government’s Feed Salone initiative, with a focus on food security, job creation and rural development.

Meanwhile, the recognition of the 11 Paramount Chiefs is expected to highlight the role of traditional leaders in maintaining peace, resolving local disputes and promoting community development.

The two events are expected to strengthen cooperation among government officials, traditional authorities, farmers and local communities while showcasing Tonkolili District’s contribution to national development.
