By Mohamed Kamara

The Kenema Police Division has strengthened its community policing efforts by introducing structured daily foot and beat patrols across key areas in the municipality.

The initiative is aimed at enhancing public safety and fostering stronger ties between police and residents.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Kpulun, the Local Unit Commander, is leading the patrols in strategic locations including Kpetema, Second Street, Dama Road, Combema Road by K School, Koroma Street in Torbonbu, the C-Curve axis, How for Do market, and Kaisamba Terrace market area.

Before deployment, officers receive detailed briefings emphasizing professionalism, discipline, vigilance, and respectful engagement with the community.

They are tasked with gathering intelligence, detecting potential threats early, and encouraging lawful conduct.

The patrols aim to build trust, involve residents in safeguarding their neighborhoods, and deter criminal activity.

The initiative has received positive feedback from community members, market women, youth groups, and local leaders, who say the increased police presence has improved their sense of security.

The Kenema Police Division has pledged to continue and expand the patrols as part of its long-term strategy to strengthen public trust and ensure city-wide coverage.
