Dr. Ado Mensah, the new Country Manager of the African Development Bank in Sierra Leone, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Finance, Hon. Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, on Wednesday, 25th March 2026, at the Treasury Building to present his credentials.

Minister Bangura welcomed Dr. Mensah and expressed Sierra Leone’s appreciation for the Bank’s growing support.
He described the relationship between the country and the Bank as “remarkable” and said the government looks forward to fruitful engagements that benefit the people.
The Minister highlighted the government’s strong economic policies, noting single-digit inflation since April 2025, a stable exchange rate, and sustainable treasury bill rates.
He also mentioned that President Bio has invited the President of the African Development Bank Group to visit Sierra Leone.
Given global uncertainties, Minister Bangura urged the Bank to support Sierra Leone in ensuring essential commodities like petroleum and agricultural inputs remain available.
He said a formal request for assistance related to the US-Israel–Iran conflict will be sent to the Bank.
Dr. Mensah congratulated the Minister on the country’s macroeconomic progress and pledged the Bank’s continued support, focusing on policy dialogue, project implementation, and economic reforms.

Also present at the meeting were Financial Secretary Mr. Matthew Dingie, Principal Deputy Financial Secretary Mr. Samuel E.B. Momoh, Deputy Financial Secretary Mr. Morie Momoh, and Technical Adviser Dr. Franklin Sisabu Bendu.
