The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, has mentioned plans to host the second batch of participants for the 2026 Budapest–Bamako Rally finish line events in Freetown.
Tourism Minister, Nabeela Tunis

According to the Ministry, the second batch is expected to enter Sierra Leone on 5th March 2026 with 492 participants and 203 vehicles, including motorbikes. The rally teams will arrive through the Gbalamuya (Kambia) and Madina Oula (Kamakwie) border crossing points before travelling along designated routes through Kambia, Kamakwie, Masiaka, Mile 38 and Waterloo to Bureh Beach, where they will camp overnight.
The official finish line ceremony is scheduled for 6th March 2026 at Lumley Beach, Gigibonta Car Park in Freetown. The final procession will move from Bureh Beach through several major streets in the capital before ending at the finish line venue.

The Ministry said Sierra Leone’s continued role as the official finish destination of the rally reflects the country’s growing reputation as a tourism and adventure destination. The event is also expected to promote cultural heritage and create economic opportunities for local communities.
The Ministry has called on the public, especially residents along the rally routes, to cooperate with traffic authorities and extend hospitality to the visiting participants.
