Chief Justice Makes Surprise Court Visit

The Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, His Lordship Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, on Monday paid an unannounced visit to the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Courts to assess the punctuality, attendance, and work ethic of magistrates and court support staff.

The early-morning visit took place during normal court sittings and forms part of ongoing efforts by the Chief Justice to strengthen accountability and improve service delivery within the judiciary.

Justice Kamanda said the exercise is aimed at ensuring judicial officers and staff remain committed to their duties and that justice is delivered efficiently to the public. He noted that similar monitoring visits will continue across courts nationwide.

“These monitoring visits will continue as we work towards bringing justice closer to all Sierra Leoneans. So far, I am satisfied,” the Chief Justice stated.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Assistant Registrar, Mabel Sesay, who also engaged court staff on administrative and operational matters affecting the smooth running of the courts.

Since assuming office, Chief Justice Kamanda has emphasized reforms focused on integrity, accountability, and improved access to justice. The surprise visit is viewed as a practical step toward restoring public confidence in the judicial system.
