54 Sierra Leoneans Deported from Guinea

The Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, has confirmed the deportation of 54 Sierra Leoneans from neighboring Guinea.

According to the IGP, the individuals were arrested in the border town of Dubreka, in the Kindia region of Guinea, for loitering without lawful authority.

Some were also found living in the country without proper identification documents.

All 54 deportees were screened at the border before being transported back to their various communities across Sierra Leone.

Security sources say Guinean authorities have increased patrols and tightened surveillance at border crossing points shared with Sierra Leone and Liberia.

This comes amid reports that several Sierra Leoneans were recently arrested in Conakry for alleged involvement in drug smuggling, particularly the trafficking of the synthetic drug known as “Kush.”
