The All People’s Congress (APC) has successfully conducted its lower-level internal elections across the country.

According to a preliminary statement issued on 21st February 2026 by the party’s Internal Elections Management Committee (IEMC), elections were held in 446 wards nationwide. A total of 4,014 positions were contested during the exercise.

The IEMC said trained coordinators, presiding officers, and polling staff were deployed to all 17 APC administrative districts. Electoral materials, including ballot papers and voter registers, were distributed ahead of polling day.

Although there were minor logistical challenges in some remote areas, most polling centers began voting between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Voting was conducted by secret ballot, and only duly registered and verified party members were allowed to vote.

The Committee described the elections as generally peaceful, orderly, and transparent. Candidate agents and observers were present at most polling centers, and vote counting took place openly immediately after polls closed.

However, the IEMC reported isolated incidents in a few wards involving disputes over voter eligibility and candidate listings. In some areas, polling was temporarily suspended to address concerns. The Committee assured members that all complaints and petitions would be handled according to the party’s constitution and electoral rules. Reruns may be conducted where necessary.

Provisional results are currently being collated. The IEMC emphasized that only results officially certified and declared by the Committee should be considered valid, urging members to ignore unofficial results circulating on social media.

The Committee expressed appreciation to the APC National Secretariat, regional and district executives, party members, candidates, security personnel, the media, and the Sierra Leone Police for their cooperation.

The IEMC described the elections as a significant milestone in strengthening internal democracy within the party. A comprehensive final report, including certified results, will be released after the collation process and resolution of outstanding issues.
